Established in 1984 by Brooks Minde, following in the family tradition of log builders, Minde Log Construction specializes in the design and construction of hand-crafted projects. In addition to our beautiful log homes, we also offer log timber frame construction for residential or commercial. Log timber frame makes a bold and exciting statement.

Quality
Independent tests have proven that homes built of large logs are easier to heat than conventional stick built homes. Wood is one of the best natural insulators which also stores heat as a thermal mass - radiating heat back into the room naturally. Minde log homes require minimum maintenance, will last for centuries and never go out of style. Each home is unique and can be designed and built to reflect the personality of the owner.

Tradition
All Minde homes are constructed at our log yard near Two Harbors, Minnesota on the North Shore of Lake Superior. Each log is handpicked to fit a specific place in the home. All logs are full-length, hand-peeled with diameters of 12 to 24 inches.

A scribe is used to transfer the exact image .of the top side of the lower log to the bottom side of the upper log. Chainsaws, grinders and chisels are used to remove the wood between the scribe lines. Consequently, an airtight fit is achieved when the log is rolled back into place. When the building is re-assembled on the owner's site, cellulose insulation and polyacrylate-saturated foam are placed in the 'lateral' and 'saddle' notches.
